It holds 4.8 on Google from more than 400 reviews and 4.9 on TripAdvisor, the best score among the cafés of Câmpulung.
About the place
The villa was built in 1926 by the merchant Nicolae Gh. Vișoianu, who ran a colonial-goods shop on the ground floor selling coffee, spices, cocoa, tea and delicacies. The shop's permit from the 1940s, found in the house, hangs framed on the wall. The new owners restored the house, keeping the woodwork, floors and stencil-painted walls, and the café opened in 2018 in the cellar, with stone walls and a vaulted ceiling.
It serves coffee, homemade cakes, gingerbread and syrups. In summer there are tables in the courtyard among flowers, under a wisteria. The upstairs rooms are themed on interwar Câmpulung, and since 2021 the house has also had three guest rooms.
Good to know
- In summer ask for a table in the courtyard, under the wisteria.
- The café has few seats; if you come as a group, call ahead.
- The Negru Vodă Monastery is about 300 m away, so you can combine them in one walk.
